These policies explain how repair requests and approved repairs are handled. They do not remove or limit your statutory rights. Consumer services must still be carried out with reasonable care and skill.

Repair Risks

Repair work can involve risks, particularly where a device has existing or liquid damage. A device may be beyond repair, or an existing fault may worsen during diagnosis or repair. Electronic components can deteriorate or fail without warning, especially where liquid exposure has caused short circuits, oxidation or corrosion.

Some devices, including iPads and other products with glued-on screens, must be opened to reach internal components. Screens can crack during this process, although this is uncommon. Older laptops and all-in-one computers may also have existing component faults, including graphics-chip problems, that can worsen or appear during diagnosis.

Estimates

I will assess the information available and provide an estimate where possible. Some faults cannot be fully identified until the device has been inspected or diagnostic work has been carried out, so an estimate may need to change. I will explain any change to the work or price and get your approval before continuing.

I will explain any change to the work or price and get your approval before I continue.

Please ask for an estimate before authorising repair work.

Submitting a booking request does not authorise paid repair work. I will discuss the assessment, any applicable repair-attempt fee and the proposed price with you before work begins.

Payment Options

I accept major credit and debit cards. Please contact me if you need to check which payment methods are available for your repair.

Warranty Time Period

Most repairs include a 60-day repair warranty for the fault covered by the original work order. Parts supplied by TilbyTechFix are also covered for 60 days from the repair date. Customer-supplied parts are not covered by this repair warranty.

The repair warranty covers the original fault addressed in the work order. It does not cover unrelated faults or new problems that develop during the 60-day period.

Warranty Exclusions

The voluntary repair warranty described here does not cover the following:

  • Repairs using parts supplied by the customer
  • Software-only services, such as virus removal or operating-system installation
  • New or unrelated faults that are not connected to the original repair
  • New hardware installations or modifications made during the 60-day period

Warranty exclusions and claims

The repair warranty does not cover a fault caused by new damage or misuse after the repair. Examples include drops or crushing, liquid exposure, electrical damage, unauthorised opening or modification, and harmful software. I will assess the device and explain the next steps.

If the original fault returns within 60 days, please contact me before arranging another repair so I can assess it under this repair warranty.

Opening or repairing a device may affect its manufacturer’s warranty. If the manufacturer’s warranty is important to you, please check with the manufacturer before authorising repair work.

If the original fault covered by the work order returns within 60 days, contact me with your tracking details and I will assess it. Where it is covered by this repair warranty, I will carry out the repair again without an additional repair charge. If the fault is different or excluded, I will explain any costs and get your approval before proceeding. You will need to return the device to me for assessment.

Estimate and Repair Time

I aim to complete repairs as soon as possible and in the order received. Many repairs take 1–3 days, but the time can vary depending on the fault, parts and workload. Any time given is an estimate, not a guaranteed completion date. I will keep you informed if the expected timing changes.

Replacement Parts Procedure

If your repair needs replacement parts, I will tell you what is needed, why it is needed, the cost and the estimated arrival time before ordering. Delivery estimates can change and are not guaranteed. A 50% deposit for ordered parts may be required; I will confirm the amount and terms with you before you agree to the order. I generally use parts sourced by TilbyTechFix so their compatibility and condition can be checked. Customer-supplied parts are not covered by the TilbyTechFix repair warranty; any manufacturer warranty is provided by the part supplier.

Customer-supplied parts are not covered by the TilbyTechFix repair warranty. Their fit, compatibility and reliability cannot be guaranteed.

Faulty or incompatible parts may cause damage or require additional work. I will explain any risks and ask for your approval before proceeding.

Repair Attempt Fee

A repair-attempt fee may apply to water-damaged devices, data-recovery work and devices that have had previous repair attempts. I will tell you if the fee applies and get your approval before work begins.

If you approve a repair attempt and it is unsuccessful, data cannot be recovered, or the device has had a previous repair attempt, the repair-attempt fee is £65 to cover the time spent on the device.

Data

Repair work can carry a risk of data loss. I take reasonable care when working on devices, but I cannot guarantee that data will be preserved. Please back up important files before sending or handing over your device.

If I believe a planned procedure may affect your data, I will explain the risk before proceeding and discuss any backup options available. Some data risks cannot be predicted in advance, so please keep your own backup of important files and documents.

Pickup time limit and storage

Because storage space is limited, please collect your device within 60 days after I contact you that it is ready. If you need more time, contact me to agree arrangements. If I cannot reach you or the device remains uncollected after that period, I may take reasonable steps to recover unpaid repair or parts costs, or recycle a non-functional device, subject to applicable law and any required notice.
